«For the series Sea of Heartbreak, Odermatt six handkerchiefs embroidered six handkerchiefs with lyrics from the eponymous song most famously covered by Johnny Cash. There is a dramatic contrast between the neat, decorative style of the needlework and the anguish the lyrics relate. A further element is a livid red jellyfish, an organism found deep under the sea, that appears printed and painted on three of the handkerchiefs. A link between the tears and water the words recount and this aquatic animal is absurd, yet so is a human love song, so absurdity builds up within the little squares.»
